​​​​​​​Albany Creek SHS strongly believes that well-supported 1-to-1 access to laptops and iPads have the potential to deliver fundamental and lasting advantages to our student population.

To help our students prepare for the challenges of the future and to assist them to assimilate the use of technologies into their everyday education activities we offer the student the opportunity to join our BYO device program.

Our BYO device brochure outlines the minimum specifications that a device needs to meet for Years 7–9 iPads and 10–12 laptops. The brochure also includes a small list of required applications that must be installed on the device.

Laptops for Years 7, 10, 11 and 12 students.

iPads for Year 8 and 9 students.

Any student in Year 8 and 9 have the option to replace their iPad with a laptop.

Please note it is no​t mandatory for Year 8 and 9 students to have a laptop in 2024.

Software requirements

Please refer to the BYOD brochure​ for the required software/applications. Intune company portal must be installed and set up on any school device.

Antivirus program—all students bringing in their own laptop will require an anitvirus program loaded on their laptop. This can be a free or purchased program from the retailer of your choice. The school uses Symantec but you may select any anti virus package.​​​​​​​​​​​​

Breakages and repairs

Basic problem solving and device support will be provided by the school.

Parents as owners of the device are responsible for breakages and damage. Parents should counsel their child​ren about the proper use and care of the device to reduce potential breakages.

Parents are advised to take out insurance or ​​adjust their current insurance policy to ensure that the iPad is covered at school for damage, loss and breakages.
